The South South Economic Summit: Delta assure adequate security

 The BRACED Commission(an acronym of the six states in the South South geo-political zone of the country, comprising Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo and Delta States ) will hold The South South Economic Summit, which will draw the who's who in both the public and private sectors in the country and globally to the Delta State Capital, Asaba between April 26 and 28.

 The State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr. Kenneth Okpara, has disclosed in an interview with journalists in Asaba, that they were collaborating with an international outfit to provide adequate security in Asaba for the event beginning on Thursday.

Okpara said the state government was mindful of the dignitaries attending, including President Goodluck Jonathan who is expected to declare the summit open while his Rwandan counterpart, Dr. Paul Kagame and the former Mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani,will be delivering presentations at the the event. Others attending are the first Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Professor John Lipsky, the 17th Chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Tony Elumelu and Jim Ovia, both of whom hail from the region and other stakeholders like Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka are also expected to be in attendance.

  1. So i guess its not news that our security service is not up to scratch. If anything this statement is acknowledgement of failures.
